Because I have used sites like Snag A Job before, I know that the #1 thing you may be tempted to consider is how much you are going to get paid.
Before you get caught up in that, read this story:
This Story Will Change the Way You Ask, “Where Can I Get a Job at 15?”
Have you ever heard the phrase, “When you are young, work to learn, not to earn?”
It was coined by a well-respected financial expert, Robert Kiyosaki.
Why do you think that quote made him so famous?
Let me tell you the story of Robert Kiyosaki.
As a young man returning from serving in the Vietnam War as a helicopter pilot, he got a job as a salesman for Xerox. He was good at it and after a while, he got comfortable. But he didn’t like comfortable because he wasn’t learning anything new.
So he quit and started a business making nylon and Velcro “surfer” wallets.
The business spiked. Then some misplaced budget cuts failed to protect his copyright. Copycat companies sprouted and put him out of business. Bankruptcy.
Then he tried starting a business making t-shirts for heavy metal bands. It did well.
Until heavy metal went “out” and that company also failed.
He was a 38-year-old living out of his car who couldn’t afford to get married to his fiance.
Nine years later, he retired as a millionaire.
Now let me repeat the quote, “When you are young, work to earn, not to learn.”
Kiyosaki didn’t care about how much money he made because he cared too much about how much money he made. He wanted to be a millionaire much more than he wanted to make $15 an hour. Does that make sense?
He experienced some failures and took some lower paying jobs, but they taught him what he needed to become one of the greatest financial successes alive today.
The Moral of the Story
As you see what jobs can you get at 15 on Snag a Job, think about what jobs are going to teach you what you need to be successful in your future jobs. Yeah, you can get a job taking surveys from your couch without every having to write a cover letter or endure an interview.
When you are sitting across the desk from the accountant you really want to work for through your adult life, do you want to tell him that you enjoyed working in your pajamas as you took surveys online? Or do you want to explain what amazing things you learned about accounting as an accountant secretary?
Just something to keep in mind as you see what jobs can I get at 15. 😉
Have fun with Snag A Job!
